Approach to theater for children: creation of poetic universes
people interested in theater for children without previous experience.
This workshop seeks to introduce students to the current perspective of theater for children, with the main guidelines being practical and theoretical research on the different stages of growth in childhood.
We will try to explain the specificity of working with children, the ethical commitment that this requires and the tools that foster effective communication with this audience, based on reflections and scenic exercises.
We will experiment with contemporary drama texts for children, as well as non-realistic languages and creative stimuli from other artistic areas such as illustration and narrative.
Justification
Currently theater for children is an area of the Mexican scene that is full of deep and complex experimentation. Both in form and in content, theater for children in Mexico lives a constant laboratory moment, where the premise of the artistic experience for children governs the work of the creatives. However, in the schools of theatrical training there are very few subjects dedicated to this question, even though many of their graduates will find a source of employment in this field. So, it seems important to bring students to a deep and interesting perspective on creation for children. Evidence its value as an artistic experience, above the objectives that have been imposed as the pedagogical or entertainment approach.
General purpose
It has the general purpose that the student knows a deep and broad vision of the current theater for children. That he reflects on a work ethic of his own. To demonstrate the need for theater for children to have the same expectations and demands as any artistic work from experimentation. That the student knows the basic principles of theater for children and the characteristics of the children's audience.
