The metaphor is our essential question. We try to dialogue with materials, with objects, to look for different meanings for profound topics. We believe that a fundamental right of childhood is the artistic experience and the contemplation of beauty.
La Covacha Teatro is founded by Marcela Castillo, with the aim of giving continuity to the investigation begun in Aquelarre Teatro around the theater of objects. The theater productions of Marcela Castillo have participated in various national and international festivals with 15 years of experience in theater for children, such as: Festival of Street Theater in Zacatecas in 2009; Encuentros TE VEO, Zamora, Spain in 2010; 31 National Theater Exhibition, Guadalajara, Jalisco in 2010; Spain tour in 2010 with 6 presentations in Guadalajara and Madrid. Miami in 2011 at the XXVI International Festival of Hispanic Theater; Barrancabermeja, Colombia at the 1st International Theater Festival in la Gran Carpa de la Paz.
Quito, Ecuador at the International Festival of Theater for Children and Youth, ¨Guaguas de Maíz¨ (FITIJ-2012); the state of Baja California in 2013 at the 5ta. Semana de Teatro para niños; Guadalajara, Jalisco, 2015 at Festín de Títeres; Theater Marathon for Boys and Girls, 25th ASSITEJ Korea International Summer Festival, Seoul, Miryang, Ansan, Gijan 2017; 38 National Theater Exhibition, León Guanajuato. In the last 4 years, she has worked around teaching giving workshops on the creation of plays for boys and girls, and teaching the subject of theater for children in the BA in Dramatic Literature and Theater at UNAM, promoting deepening and research in young audiences.
